MIL-STD-1275 defines the characteristics of 28 VDC electrical systems in military vehicles. It covers the steady-state voltage range and the disturbances equipment on that bus must tolerate, including voltage spikes, surges and starting (cranking) transients.

MIL-STD-461 sets requirements for the control of electromagnetic interference (EMI) characteristics of equipment and subsystems. It covers both emissions (what the equipment radiates or conducts) and susceptibility (how the equipment withstands interference), and is a common EMC reference for military equipment.

MIL-STD-810 describes environmental engineering considerations and laboratory test methods. Its methods cover conditions such as temperature, humidity, shock and vibration. The test methods and levels are tailored to the equipment’s intended service environment, so the revision and the tailoring should be stated in any qualification request.
